My name is Gary, and I don't know what I'm doing. I hope one or more of you can offer me some suggestions. I have a band called Elviss Simmons and the Memphis Strutters (www.elvisssimmons.com). We have a large metal sign in the back (a good look at the sign is in the video link below) that I want to light with LED rope light, and I need ideas. I want as much flash-trash as possible for the money, and I need it to be controlled via DMX. This is NOT supposed to look tasteful. We're going for bright and gaudy.

One of the problems I'm trying to work past is that the letters of ELVISS do not connect, and I don't think I can afford 6 individual power sources. Is there a slick way to do one rope throughout the sign with one controller and not show the connections? Also, anyone know of any good deals or good products? The size of the sign is making the cost kind of prohibitive.

Sorry if this post comes off like an ad, but I really do need the help, and explaining the project a little I think is necessary. Thank you.

What about weaving the ropelight through holes cut into the sign to connect the letters?  Just make sure you don't kink the rope, a U shaped bend will work.  Let me know if this helps

i would use the 12v RGB led strips or modules and cut them to fit each letter then use a 22-4 wire to connect each letter together

for the DMX interface you could use one of these DMX decoders as it will control up to 64' of light http://www.usledsupply.com/shop/rgb-4a-dmx-decoder.html

It could be done with LED RGB rope light, if you have the power source for a 110v connection I would suggest that to limit your amp draw. All of it could be connected together to a DMX controller to your DMX console.  There also a few DMX controllers out there where you can save scenes to.
