I am torn between using Incandescent and LED rope lights for accent lighting. If it was a question of choosing between the two using the cost as the deciding factor, that would be a no brainer.  I will be mounting them on top of the wooden beams high in my vaulted ceiling.  Which is the better choice?  Any help would be appreciated.

we put some high quality ac ones in a place about 5 yrs ago and they still work but they have turned a ugly yellow color and don't let much light out anymore so i don't know if they make any better ones yet but we also get lots of calls saying i bought a set of led rope lights from someone and some of the sections have gone bad after a few months and when they call the place where they bought them they say they will send them a new section so as long as you are ok replacing sections if they go bad then go with the led as they will save you a lot of electrical usage but if it were me i would use the led flex strips as they are much brighter and will last longer, but my advice is a bit one sided and you should see what others think as well

Hi, I met the same problem a year ago, I used some strip lights, and they turned yellow very quickly, as a matter of fact in a few months. They weren't bright enough either.
But I did get some new ones for my pond about two months ago, they are still perfect. They are visibly different from my previous ones, since the silicone coating is used within a plastic tube, and they don't turn yellow. Also they are much better in performance - obviously, cause this technology develops rapidly. I would suggest you use these ones I have, because if you mount them high up, it is going to be a pain changing the fluorescent ones.
Here it is, though, strangely the picture of the product is not of the actual product... which is a shame Smiley
