5 wire 4 channel rope lights

I got an odd question..The rope lights I have go for 10 bulbs on the common wire then it has a tap for each color..Why is this tap not at the leading edge of the colored string and what does it do The rope light is hooked up to an old 4 channel chase controller...
Main reason I ask this is cause I want to change or modify the way it works.
What I am trying to accomplish is simply have all the blues trigger at one time along with the greens,reds and ambers..So have it in a 4 color sequance..I hope this makes sence..

What do you mean by a "tap"?

I call it a tap as this colored wire goes for 10 bulbs then joins the common...Not sure why it is wired that way...I'm simply trying to understand how this rope light works so I can modify it a bit..
