My wife directs kids musical theatre shows and for every production we rent a 50' long, old-fashioned chase light set for $98. I wonder if we could purchase a substitute that would work better and be more durable. The light string we rent uses frosted 11watt incandescent bulbs every 4" and has an enormous non-solid state box that controls the speed of the chasing action. The connecting cable is actually four individual 12 or 14 gauge wires taped together. I'd love to find an LED substitute with chasing capabilities and roughly the same brightness. I don't need color.

Any idea whether there is a product out there that fits this need? I could even wire something together if I had a circuit diagram.

Thanks.
