Undecided My wife and I go camping a lot during the summer. We have a teardrop trailer and use Easy-up and Quik Shade canopies at times when there is a lot of rain or too much sun. So I want to use rope light to illuminate the canopies. My question is: I have seen kits for rope lights for the canopies but they do not have the coverage that I want. These kits have rigid tubing that the rope light passes through which is attached to the canopy frame. Can one purchase these tubes and if so where?

How about inquiring on the store where you bought your canopy. I am sure they have something better to offer if you really want to illuminate your canopy that way. Better yet, search the manufacturer if they also have other alternatives to offer.

I would not put your rope in a tube.  It could over heat and dramatically shorten the lamps life.  I suggest using a track.  http://www.1000bulbs.com/2-Wire-Half-Inch-Rope-Light-Clip-Mounting-Accessories/10280/ the rack is open to allow heat to escape.

I have two questions.  Will the rope be mounted permanently?  Will the voltage supply be 120 or 12 volt?

Rope light is fragile, handling rope light will cause the tiny wires to become dislodged from the light bulbs.

i would use 12v IP-68 Led Flex Strips in either the cool white or RGB (if you want full color control) these will be plenty bright and you don't need a transformer just connect it to the battery on the RV (with a 5A fuse) the IP-67 are waterproof and can take quite a beating, you could use zip ties to attach it and just leave it connected all the time. or sew in some Velcro loops so you can remove it easily, either way you should be able to read under it when you are done and even with the RGB ones it shouldn't cost more then $120
