We installed amber-colored rope light at the bottom of our railings and it was actually a very easy project. I am fried by the sun, despite SPF50 applied liberally all day long but I'm very happy with how it turned out. we probably saved ourselves thousands by installing less than $100 worth of rope lights ourselves.

I used white cable ties that I got with my rope light order to mount the lights.

This is what we ended up with.  Not bad huh?

A closer view...

So all in all the rope light looks pretty good and we are able to easily turn it on and off since there was already a junction box under the deck and the line already had an existing switch in the veranda that was put in on an addition but never used.

Oh... If you are wondering where I bought my rope lights from, I got them at Birddog Distributing, Inc. http://www.birddogdistributing.com
The price was great, the people were friendly, and Fedex delivered right on time so I really can't ask for much more.

Let me start by saying I have the same problem with the sun. White-boy-itis. Although I usually do pretty well if i have sun block on.

On a more pertinent note...niiice! I really like the look of the deck. Rope lights are great for accent lighting. And I must say...nice pad...looks like you got it going on over there. I want to post some pics of my chasing rope lights, but just haven't found the time to do it yet.

Thanks for the cool pics Grin.
