Can I use LED rope lights under water?
I was wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to use LED rope light under water as long as the connections are dry?
Has this been done before?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jerry

Hi Jerry,
It is not recommended that you use any rope lights submerged under. Even 24v and 12v can be dangerous let alone 120v. They have a fiber optic alternative that is similar to rope lights, but very expensive.

I think it is better do not put the LED strip in the water, it is danger even some manufactuer say it is IP68.

Low voltage LED Rope Light is safe from the voltage or current point of view. Still it should have some IP rating.

Keep doing some research, I'm pretty sure there is a
LED light string
that can be submerged. Good luck!

Re: Can I use LED rope lights under water?
Hi,
You will need to check out the IP ratings. IP67 is waterproof but not submersible, and IP68 is completely submersible but you will need to check with the supplier as higher quality products will obviously be longer lasting and safer to use.
ANL Lighting
have a huge range of LED rope lights that are all high quality and safe to use with varying IP ratings. Ceck out the site and contact them for more information.
Hope this has been helpful.

Re: Can I use LED rope lights under water?
Hi,
Yes you can, if the IP rating is 68. It is better to use (or safer much rather) 12V strip lights for that purpose, also, if the connections are dry, there is no risk at all, as long as the strips are not in danger of being hit or damaged in the water.
I bought these ones, and used it the same way in the pond (connections are out, since I didn't want to risk whether I connected them completely waterproof, though I did put a LOT of silicone on it)

yes, you can put led strips to the waterproof. but you need them IP68 with very nice quality.
