Dimming LED lights
Can I use any dimmer with LED lighting or is there a special dimmer that needs to be purchased.
I saw this one:
http://www.birddogdistributing.com/2wire-120volt-2channel-dimmer-p-682.html
It says that it has 2 receptacles which makes it sound like any dimmer would work as long as it has a high enough rating.
Thanks,
Chris

Yeah, well if you have a DMX512 you can use systems like this to control lighting in hundreds of different ways but they are quite pricey pieces of gear. Im interested in some wow gold.

Re: Dimming LED lights
Hi,
You can use a dimmer with LED lights but it is best to use an LED specific driver that uses PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) to dim. This will ensure that your LED's keep their long life. VIBE Lighting have a PWM LED driver available from
ANL Lighting
.

Re: Dimming LED lights
if you have a DMX network then by all means use a DMX controller as you have full control over color and brightness along with the ability to program some pretty sweet light shows, a standard DMX controller cost less then $50 so they are a bit more then your standard controllers but for what they can do it is worth it. if you don't have a DMX network then you can get an RGB remote or audio controller for around $20-$35
